I proudly bring greetings on behalf of the members of Omicron Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.  For the past 34 years, we have implemented programs and activities for the families of Bowling Green, Kentucky and surrounding communities in Franklin, Auburn, Russellville, & Glasgow. We adhere to our motto “service to all mankind’ under the leadership of our International President, Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover, through our International Program 2018-2022 – Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service, which includes the following targets:

  • Target 1 – HBCU 4 Life: A Call to Action

  • Target 2 – Women’s Healthcare & Wellness

  • Target 3 – Building Your Economic Legacy

  • Target 4 – The Arts

  • Target 5 – Global Impact

  • Signature Program – #CAP (College Application Process)

We humbly appreciate the support from various organizations, agencies, schools, businesses, and churches to assist meeting the needs of people of all ages.  Omicron Sigma Omega members will continue to be a driving force for positive change, sustainability, economic growth, educational strides, keeping the Arts alive, and having a local and global impact.

International History

In 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated became America’s first Greek-letter organization established by African-American women. Alpha Kappa Alpha originated at Howard University in Washington, D.C. where Ethel Hedgeman Lyle held the vision for the sorority. Alpha Kappa Alpha is engrained in helping others and professes to be of “Service to all Mankind”. The sorority mission is to inspire deep-rooted sisterhood, and an international agenda focused on promoting awareness and assistance.

Omicron Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is located in Central Region. Sonya L. Bowen is the current Central Regional Director. The Central Region includes chapters located in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, the southeastern part of Missouri.
